![]() Really, finding the right gauge of strings that won’t flop around is the key to that, I think that issue can pop up on any guitar If the tension is light enough. Zakk Wylde‘s got a REALLY heavy right hand and doesn’t seem to have any issues with knocking the string out of tune on an LP. Though it’s hard to pass up an LP for metal! They’ve certainly been used their fair share. If I’m down tuning, I prefer at least a 25.5 because I’ve found it more accepting of different string gauges, I can go a little lighter and still have tension that doesn’t feel like pillows. ![]() I think he’s got a signature Dimarzio pickup?ĭevin Townsend also used a Tele for metal stuff for a while and slapped some EMG’s in it. Not sure what brand of metal is your preferred style because it runs the gamut these days from old school Maiden/Priest metal to modern deathcore multi-scale craziness in drop F# or whatever, but I’ve been loving the hell out of the tones Joe from Gojira gets on his Charvel Tele’s. Tele’s seem to pop up on the radar in metal every so often.
